Start Jamming with the SoundCloud ‘backing tracks’ tab

One of the best ways to improve your guitar skills is to practice playing along with backing tracks. Until now, all of our backing tracks have come in the video – which is fine when you only want to attempt the ‘jam along’ section as part of your lesson. But what if you want to play the backing track with out the instructor?

Well, with our new SoundCloud ‘backing tracks’ tab to do just that!

The backing tracks tab is located under the course video player

Conveniently located below the video player on each course page, the ‘backing tracks’ tab is the place to go when you want to turn it up and let rip on your guitar.

Each track is available as part of a playlist for each course and is freely available so you can share them with friends.

Hey, iam new on this , i cant find any backing tracks tab is located under the course video player

    1. Luis Tovar

Hey Omy, the Jam Tracks tab is currently available only for the “Lead Guitar for Beginners” course, you’ll see there a “Soundcloud” player with the tracks. For the rest of the courses you’d need to go through each “Jam” video lesson; unfortunately, we don’t have the individual tracks ready just yet.

Any idea when you will putting backing tracks on beginner course 1&2.

    1. Mark McKenzie

Hi Kenneth, the backing tracks for that course are in the videos. All future tracks will probably be added in their own tab in an audio player.

Hi Wms, well we did published the jam tracks on Soundcloud a couple of years ago and then embedded them on our members area, this blog post is about that and was published back in 2014 🙂

  3. Shaun Jackson

Hello there Jon. Just following up on when we might see the backing tracks in or for the Beginner Guitar Method 1 & 2? I am enjoying the course but think I would get more out of it if I could jam along to a track for the jam sessions so I can get some duress and also get into the rhythm of playing the cords over a longer track. Just start to get going and the module is finished and have to fast forward to the jam session constantly, so would be advantageous I think. Thanks.

Hi Shaun, yes I see that we missed getting those up on the site. I’m not sure what happened there but I’m looking into it now so hopefully they’ll be there quite soon.

  4. Iris Gur-Kaufman

Hi Jon, any new lessons planned?

    1. Jon Coursey Post author

Hi Iris, yes we’ve been out of action lately haven’t we? Mark has a lot more content to come. In fact, he’s been back in the studio this week putting lessons together for a new course. More about that on the blog soon (if you’re on the mailing list you’ll get an email about it). Plus, we’ve got more courses in the works to take you further beyond what we’ve taught so far. You should start seeing new lessons going up weekly in a couple of weeks. We plan to continue publishing weekly, indefinitely after that.

I subscribed to this site without taking into consideration that im left handed have I made a mistake or should I be ok

    1. Jon Coursey Post author

      Hi Darryl,

I think I posted a reply to you when you purchased? The short answer is yes you’ll be okay. If you are learning left-handed, you’ll have to translate what Mark is playing right handed to opposite hands. But that shouldn’t stop you. If you haven’t made the decision on which way you’ll be learning (left or right), there’s some good advice here to help you decide.

I hope this course will help. Me improve as i have tried. So many of these courses

    1. Jon Coursey Post author

Hi there, I think it will definitely help you. We get a lot of great feedback from people who have struggled with other courses in the past who are very surprised to find they have the ability to play guitar well. Mark has developed some very specific techniques and exercises that you won’t find anywhere else. And I can attest to the fact that they really do work – After many years of just puttering away at guitar I started his lessons and in a few months I was playing solos, riffs and finger-style guitar and feeling completely comfortable and natural. With this tuition and 20 minutes of practice a day, you can really develop your skills to a high level. Let me know how it works out.
