The 6/8 Strum

Essential Guitar Strums Course
– with Mark McKenzie Part 5

“The 6/8 Strum Opens Up A Whole New World Of Possibilities”

I call this the 6/8 strum because it follows the 6/8 time signature. This particular strum is widely used in rock ballads and Irish Celtic music.

If you’re looking for some good examples where this strum is used, check these out:

  • Arthur McBride – Irish folk song covered by Paul Brady, Bob Dylan and others.
  • Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town – Pearl Jam

Enjoy.

Sincerely,
mark-sig
