John Frusciante

John Frusciante is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, record and film producer. He is best known as the former guitarist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, with whom he had been with for a number of years and recorded five studio albums.

Frusciante’s style was influenced mainly by Jimi Hendrix; but he was also inspired by David Bowie, Captain Beefheart, Zappa and Neu!.

His guitar playing is not full of virtuosism, not at all, but he has “that something” that most guitarists lack. He creates some really cool riffs that make you want to dance every time you hear what he plays.

In other words I think Frusciante’s style is full of soul, he really plays what he feels. He forgoes excellent playing technique and perfection and plays with feeling. But whatever he plays or creates, feels perfect to him and also to us, the listeners. Listen to the “Blood Sugar Sex Magic” or “Californation” albums, they are pure jewels! I would say that those two albums show the amazing and beautiful touch that only Frusciante has on the guitar.
