John Scofield is one of those guitarists that can surprise you very easily. He is super versatile, and he can play it freaking good! Jazz, Rock, Funk, Soul, Blues.

I own only two CDs that I bought without knowing what to expect and both of them are completely different. One is a full on jazz album which is amazing; the second one is more groove oriented, funk, fusion and rock which is probably my favorite of any of Scofield’s albums. It’s called “Uberjam” in case you wanna check it out.

Now, Scofield has a very extensive discography, that can be checked out on his website.

Scofield has played as a sideman with other really talented players such as Herbie Hancock, John Patitucci, Dizzy Gillepsie and Jack DeJohnette, to name a few. So you can really tell that Scofield really is a very talented guitar player. If you don’t know him, you totally should check him out to get some inspiration, as he really is a good source for that, no matter what your favorite music style.
